What Does Visumsum Mean?
that which is seen, appearance, sight
Based on that definition, Visumsum is a space intended to express who we are as the next young adult generation by the way see the world as well as the challenges we face.
Who Am I?
Hey! My name is Alejandra Ruiz, but most of my friends call me Ale or Ali. I am 21 years old and I currently live in Mexico City.
I was born here in Mexico City but I moved to the Colorado, USA when I was 16. Then, at 19, I moved to Manhattan, NYC to pursue my acting and creative dreams. Earlier this year, I moved back to Mexico City where I’m really happy reconnecting with my roots.
As I’m growing to become an adult, I’ve certainly become aware that it’s not easy, not only for me, but for people around my age as well.
We are a generation supported by ever-evolving technology and with greater possibility to redefine social roles than previous generations. We have ideals for racial, gender and economic equality, but at the same time we are immersed in our social media world and are highly competitive with one another.
So, what do we bring to the table? How do we approach opportunities for us to express all that we are? How do we make things happen to create the world we want? I don’t know, but one thing I know for sure is that we have to do it together.
That’s what Visumsum is about. Creating a space where our voices matter and help each other find our strengths as people and as a generation.
