Activated Charcoal Latte

Activated charcoal is made of coal, wood or other organic substance. It becomes activated when it's taken to really high temperatures and it's activated with gas. This reaction creates a porous surface on the charcoal, and these pores help trap chemicals and unwanted substances from your body.

That's why activated charcoal has so many different uses. You can use it from ingesting it to improve your digestion, to using a charcoal toothpaste to whiten your teeth.

However, I need to warn you that it isn't candy and it you should be careful with it. Consuming too much can backfire and cause health problems rather than benefits.

Still, when taken in moderation and with proper research, it can be amazing and I totally recommend it.

Personally, I tried it as a latte.
My thoughts on it were:

  • The charcoal itself didn't really have a flavor, and the latte recipe I followed was really good. So I enjoyed drinking it.

  • It felt like it had "sand" because not all of it dissolves (but I bet there's a way to avoid that)

  • I did feel like I cleansed a lot of toxins off my body.

  • I would definitely have it again, but not more than 3-4 times a month

If your curious: This is the recipe I followed and you are welcomed to try it :)
P.S. It's 100% vegan too

  • 3 cups of almond milk

  • 1 TBS activated charcoal

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tsp agave syrup                 (I used brown sugar, and it was good too)

  1. Heat up the almond milk in the stove or microwave

  2. Add the activated charcoal, syrup and vanilla

  3. Mix it all until it's well blended and has some foam

  4. Enjoy

I liked it and I want to try it again. Have you ever had or used activated charcoal? How?
What did you think about it?
Any questions?
